Connections and Collaboration- Cambridge Community House

Cambridge Community House- Supporting the People of Cambridge

Cambridge Community House (CCH) provides vital support services to those who need them in the Cambridge Community. Providing: Counselling and support, family relationship help and support, money mentoring and alcohol and drug help, the CCH can provide important assistance to our community's most vulnerable.

Recently a wonderful community collaboration took place between High Performance Sport NZ and CCH:

High Performance Sport NZ Garden Makeover

From the Cambridge Community House:

Back in December 2018 at a Chamber’s ‘Networking Over Coffee’ event at Podium Lodge, Cambridge Community House’s new general manager Harriet Dixon, met members of the team from High Performance New Zealand.

Always on the lookout for volunteers, Harriet jumped at the chance to invite the High Performance New Zealand team and the athletes they look after to do a garden makeover at Cambridge Community House, on Shakespeare Street in Leamington/Cambridge.

The Cambridge Community House provides free wellbeing support and social services to the community of Cambridge, with a holistic approach by supporting mental wellness through counselling and financial mentoring to improve wellbeing. The House wraps it’s services around an individual and walks with them to get the support they need, including advocating for them with other local services and agencies.

The garden provides a tranquil welcome to our community who are in need of support from the House. While also a providing a wealth of fruit and veggies which are then given away to the community.

The garden make over was on 15th March 2019, it took just 4 hours of hard work with 10 volunteers to clear the garden which was quite overgrown in some areas.

We had a trailer load of garden waste taken away by Home Sweet Home Property Maintenance, who oversaw the work on site and directed the volunteers to keep them safe.

A huge thank you from the Cambridge Community House to the volunteers from High Performance New Zealand for their support and hard work. The garden looks amazing and is all prepped to provide its next crop of lovely fresh vegetables.
